Price information is collected remotely through phone communication and email. Contact visits are made periodically to verify price information and quality assessment is accurate, unbiased and relevant to the report. Reporters reserve the right to exclude insignificant data sets and outliers that are not consistent with the majority of the trades or bids. To ensure accuracy of these reports, reporters are recertified every two years.
This report is a weekly or bi-weekly hay report containing trades, ask, and offering prices for forage commodities which include hay, straw, and silage. Hay is classified and graded using USDA hay quality designations and guidelines based on test parameters and/or physical description. Price information is released by USDA’s Livestock, Poultry, and Grain Market News Division under the Voluntary Price Reporting authority of USDA’s Agriculture Marketing Service. This report will display a price range and weighted average price for established trades, and a bid price range if a trade is not established, but an asking price is given by a potential seller or offering price given by a potential buyer.

Huss and Lexington Livestock Video/Internet Auction
Market information and data is collected throughout the course of the live auction, as the reporter will grade the livestock and record the pertinent information in the reporting tool. Information that the reporter must record for each lot includes the official USDA grade, weight, head count, and selling price. To ensure the accuracy of these reports, each Market Reporter is required to take a written test and apply their skills during an official live animal grading correlation with their supervisor every two years.

This report is a weekly feedstuff report containing bids and/or trades of feedstuff commodities. Feedstuffs are classed and reported based on official USDA standards and guidelines. Price information is released by USDA’s Livestock, Poultry, and Grain Market News Division under the Voluntary Price Reporting authority of USDA’s Agriculture Marketing Service. This report contains simple averages for multiple feedstuff commodities provided by animal protein processors, grain and pulse processors, and ethanol plants. Some commodities listed such as soybean meal utilizes a basis price that is calculated based on a publicly traded futures price. The commodity exchanges used to calculate some of the meal prices is the Chicago Board of Trade.
