Oct. 3, 2017 USDA Market News Broiler/Fryer: Daily National Broiler Market at-a-Glance Whole broiler/fryer prices are mixed trending steady to firm for lighter weight product, but steady to weak for heavier sizes. Offerings are light to moderate. Demand into retail channels is light to moderate and expected to pick up for beginning of the month business. Food service interest is light to moderate. Floor stocks are balanced. Trucks are loosening up, but still a little more expensive than before the hurricanes. Market activity is slow to moderate. In the parts structure, jumbo wings are steady to firm while all other sizes are steady at best. Breast items are mostly weak to lower, and dark meat cuts are steady to weak. Supplies of wings are mostly moderate to heavy with larger sizes in the better balance; breast items continued ample and with discounting noted. Dark meat cuts are moderate to heavy with legs cuts available. Market activity for parts is slow to moderate. In production areas, live supplies are moderate at mostly desirable weights.
