AM_LS753 ***Final Report*** Oklahoma City, OK Fri Oct 13, 2017 USDA-OK Dept of Ag Market News Superior Livestock Video Auction Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 10/12/2017 Offerings: 17,700 Last Sale 09/28/2017: 20,500 Compared to the last sale: Feeder lightly tested for current delivery. Few sold steady to 2.00 higher. Feeder heifers mostly steady. Steer calves lightly tested on comparable sales and a sharp lower undertone is noted. Heifer calves 2.00-5.00 lower. Calf demand has turned light as the dreaded October is upon us. The wide range in temperatures has proven deadly to un-weaned and short weaned calves thus extremely limited demand for those. Feeder cattle demand improved following the bearish cattle on feed. Beef demand remains good and slaughter rates are on a healthy pace. Speculators soon realized the cattle futures were well over sold and the bulls charged back. Slaughter cattle prices managed to hold steady. Supply includes 40 percent over 600 lbs; 58 percent of supply steers; 42 percent heifers. Receipts included 54 percent from South Central; 19 percent North Central; 10 percent West; 17 percent East. Prices FOB based on net weights after a 2-3 percent pencil shrink or equivalent, with a 4-8 cent slide on yearlings and 8-12 cent slide on calves. Current deliveries are cattle that will delivery up to 14 days from the last sale day of the video. Example (Last sale day is 10/12 so current is thru October 26th).
