LG_LS140 Frankfort, KY Mon Oct 9, 2017 USDA-KY Dept of Ag Market News Lexington Auction Weighted Average Report for 10/09/2017 Receipts: 836 Last Week: 1239 Year Ago: 429 Compared to last Monday steer calves under 600 lbs sold 1.00 to 4.00 lower with light demand for fleshy offerings; moderate demand for thin-fleshed and weaned offerings. Heifer calves under 600 lbs sold 2.00 to 4.00 lower with light demand few fancy open heifers over 600 lbs sold steady with good demand. Light test on yearlings but few packages sold steady to firm with good demand. Quality was plain through good. Slaughter cows and slaughter bulls sold steady with light demand. 25 replacement cattle, 98 slaughter cattle, and 713 feeder cattle. Today's supply included 36.6 percent that weighed over 600 lbs. 29.3 percent steers and 16.1 percent bull calves and 34.7 percent heifers. 84 slaughter cows with 96 percent going to slaughter. 14 head of slaughter bulls with 100 percent going to slaughter.
