SF_LS796 Sioux Falls, SD Mon Oct 16, 2017 USDA-ND Dept of Ag Market News North Dakota Weekly Auction Summary - For the week ending Oct 14, 2017 Results of: Kist, Stockmens, and West Fargo Receipts: 7,770 Last Week 4,976 Last Year 8,946 Compared to last week: Steer and heifer calves under 500 lbs 5.00 to 10.00 higher, over 500 lbs steady to 4.00 higher. Few comparable sales of yearling feeder steers 2.00 higher, yearling heifers too narrowly compared. Very good demand for all weights of feeders. Larger receipts in the Western side of the state, Central and Eastern parts seeing lighter receipts as producers in those regions have more feed resources available. The feeder market got a boost of optimism this week as the cash fed cattle market moved higher again. Futures contracts made good gains early in the week which helped to harden the resolve of cattle feeders. Larger auction receipts expected next week as more producers begin their fall marketing.
