SF_LS796 Sioux Falls, SD Tues Oct 10, 2017 USDA-ND Dept of Ag Market News North Dakota Weekly Auction Summary - For the week ending Oct 7, 2017 Results of: Kist and Stockmens Receipts: 4,976 Last Week 5,108 Last Year 2,517 Compared to last week: Steer and heifer calves unevenly steady. Yearling feeder steers and heifers not well compared. Moderate to good demand for calves, good demand for the much lighter offering of yearlings. The futures contracts were able to hold together with some solid gains which really helped to shore up optimism for cattle feeders. The low corn market is really giving incentive to farmer- feeders to feed their corn to livestock if they have the wherewithal to do so. Auction receipts remain larger in the Western part of the state where the drought has persisted longer. Central and Eastern parts have fared better and are able to hold on to their stock longer. Larger receipts of calves expected for next week.
