Demand for yearlings is very good, moderate to good for calves. Receipts are still rather light, except for a larger sale at Stockmen’s in Dickinson where cattle producers in that part of the state are suffering the most from the terrible drought conditions. Other areas of the state have received some rain and the grass greened up and grew which is allowing those producers to keep their cattle out on grass and gaining weight. Farmer feeders are eager to get cattle bought and into their yards to feed. Feed cost is very affordable this year as the cash corn market is well below 3.00 per bushel.
