Airy, Shelby, North Wilkesboro, Norwood, Smithfield for the Week Ending Thursday Oct 5, 2017 Cattle Receipts: 5306 Last Week: 5358 Last Year: 3858 Compared to last week, slaughter cows were steady 3.00 lower and bulls were mostly steady. Feeder steers were mostly steady to 3.00 lower, bulls were steady to 6.00 lower; heifers were mostly steady to 5.00 lower. Demand, market activity, and buyer interest were mostly moderate. Offerings of cattle were moderate. Cattle quality was mostly plain to average. Slaughter cows made up 14 percent of the offering, slaughter bulls 2 percent, replacement cows 2 percent, other cows 0 percent, and feeders 81 percent. The feeder supply included 27 percent steers, 40 percent heifers, and 33 percent bulls. Near 24 percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
