SF_LS769 Sioux Falls, SD Mon Oct 9, 2017 USDA-SD Dept of Ag Market News Sioux Falls Regional - Worthing, SD Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 10/09/2017 Receipts: 3407 Last Week: 3576 Year Ago: 1620 Compared to last week: Steer and heifer calves very lightly offered this week, with no comparisons able to be made. Feeder steers 800-950 lbs sold mostly steady to 4.00 lower. Feeder heifers 750-800 lbs mostly steady, 800-850 lbs 4.00 lower in a narrow comparison, 850-950 lbs sold with stronger undertones. Good demand seen for today's offering consisting of mostly backgrounded yearlings, moderate to good demand for spring born calves. Cattle were carrying moderate to moderate plus flesh condition again this week. Spring born calves were both weaned and off the cow with various levels of pre-conditioning. Active market, as both farmer-feeders and order buyers were in town today. Many field conditions are still very wet and continue to delay harvest for much of the local area. Slaughter cows sold mostly 1.00 to 2.00 higher compared to Wednesday's test, bulls sold steady to firm. Feeder cattle receipts 63 percent steers, 37 percent heifers; 92 percent weighing over 600 lbs. Offerings were 97 percent feeder cattle, balance slaughter cows and bulls. Sale next Monday October 16th, at 10:00 am.
