Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 10/12/2017

Compared to Tuesday's much lighter offering:  steer calves 400 to 450
steady, 451 to 500 lbs not well tested Tuesday, 501 to 650 lbs 4.00 to
5.00 higher.  Heifer calves 450 to 500 lbs 4.00 to 5.00 higher, 501 to
600 lbs steady.  Good to very good demand for today's calf offering 
which sold on an active market.  Many packages and loads of 
attractive calves on offer, most of these were in moderate flesh.  
A couple loads and packages of reputation replacement quality heifers
sold on a very active market.  The majority of the offering had spring
and fall shots, calves that had only spring shots were discounted at 
times.  All were off the cow today.  Steers made up 62 percent of the
feeder cattle offering, heifers 38 percent, 34 percent over 600 lbs. 
 Two feeder cattle sales next week; Tuesday, October 17, expecting 
5500 head and Thursday, October 19, expecting 7500 head.
