Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 10/10/2017

Compared to Thursday:  steer calves 400 to 450 lbs and 551 to 650 lbs
mostly steady, 500 to 550 lbs 3.00 higher.  Heifer calves 450 to 500 
lbs and 551 to 600 lbs 2.00 to 3.00 lower, 501 to 550 lbs mostly 
steady.  Other weight classes of steers and heifers not well compared
today.  Moderate to good demand for today's calf offering which sold 
on a moderate to active market.  Mostly packages on offer today 
with just a handful of loads.  Quality more attractive on Thursday 
with todays' calves being average to attractive in quality.  The 
majority had their preconditioning shots and were in light to 
moderate flesh.  A more limited attendance of buyers today.  Steers 
made up 60 percent of the feeder supply, 40 percent heifers, 15 
percent over 600 lbs.  Next feeder cattle sale is Thursday, October 
12, expecting 6500 to 7000 head of calves.
