   Compared to last Wednesday’s special black hided calf sale:
Steer calves 5.00 to 8.00 lower, instances to 10.00 lower on those
under 450 lbs.  Heifer calves 3.00 to 5.00 lower, instances to 8.00 
lower on those under 400 lbs.  Demand more moderate this week, market
not as active, just moderate.  A very attractive offering of high quality,
preconditioned calves on offer, many in full loads.  Flesh condition ranged
from light to moderate plus, with more displaying moderate to moderate plus
flesh.  With the very mild weather, and green grass in some areas, calves
are able to gain a little condition and look very bloomy.  The market was
under pressure this week due to the sheer volume of cattle being offered
for sale across the region.  19 percent over 600 lbs.  62 percent steers;
38 percent heifers.  Fri. Oct 20, big special all breeds calf and yearling
auction, expecting 8,500 head.  Wed. Oct. 25, special black hided calf sale
expecting 5,000-5,500 calves.
