Slaughter Cattle Auction

   Compared to last week:  Slaughter steers mostly steady to 1.00 higher with instances
seen of 2.00 higher.  Slaughter heifers steady to 1.00 higher.  Holstein steers very lightly
offered this week, with no accurate price comparisons able to be made.  Demand was good, as
both packer buyers and two-way buyers were active bidders this week.  Very attractive offering,
as the bulk of the cattle sold in load lots.  12 loads of hard fed steers, 5 loads of heifers
combined with part loads and small packages to round out the fed cattle offering.  Weighing
conditions were average to attractive, with a couple consignments carrying more gut fill.  
Two loads of Implant Free calf fed steers sold with a slight premium over conventional cattle today,
no premium noted on Implant Free heifers.  Cash fed cattle market has been standstill in all 
major feeding regions. Morning Boxed Beef trade was uneven, with Choice up 0.23 at 197.89;
Select down 0.48 at 189.37.  Slaughter cows sold steady to 3.00 higher in a light test compared
to Monday's offering.  Bulls sold with steady undertones.  Fed cattle offering was 68 percent 
steers, 32 percent heifers.  Receipts were 94 percent fed cattle, balance slaughter cows and bulls.

   Steers:  Choice 2-3  1453-1566 lbs 109.35-110.50; Implant Free 1498-1518 lbs
111.35-111.60.  Choice 3-4 1521-1558 lbs 108.85-110.00, 1596-1641 lbs 108.00-109.50.
Select and Choice 2-3 1348-1411 lbs 108.85-110.25.  Returning to the Country:  Select 2
1201-1291 lbs 110.00-113.00; Implant Free 1194-1279 lbs 114.00-117.00. 

   Holstein Steers:  Choice 2-3 1370-1553 lbs 83.75-86.00. 

   Heifers:  Choice 2-4  1252-1390 lbs 109.00-110.75, Low Dressing 1305-1342 lbs 107.75-108.00.
Returning to the Country:  Select and Choice 2-3 1197 lbs 108.00.
