Slaughter Cattle Auction

Receipts:   1092    Last Week:   1323    Last Year:   1245

   Compared to last week:  Slaughter steers 2.00 to 4.00 higher.  Slaughter heifers
sold 2.00 to 3.00 higher.  Holstein steers steady to 1.00 higher.  Demand was moderate
to good, as two-way buyers were very active today and forced the packer buyers to step
up if they wanted to get any cattle bought today.  Attractive offering of mostly part loads
and packages of hard fed steers, along with several consignments of two-way cattle that would
benefit from additional days on feed to improve their quality grade and were returning to the
country.   Weighing conditions average to attractive, as there were both overnight and morning
hauled cattle offered.  Some cattle were also carrying some mud and tag as yard conditions in 
some areas are less than ideal due to rains the past couple of weeks.  Cash fed cattle trade is
very inactive with live trades reported in CO at 110.00.  BOxed Beef cutout was lower, with Choice
down 1.08 at 196.32; Select 1.26 lower at 188.76.  Slaughter cows Breaking and Boning Utility sold
steady to 2.00 lower, Lean cows unevenly steady compared to Monday's test.  Bulls 2.00 to 6.00 higher.
Fed cattle offering was 75 percent steers, 25 percent heifers.  Offerings were 90 percent fed cattle,
balance slaughter cows and bulls.  

   Steers:  Choice 2-3  1386-1489 lbs 109.00-110.00.  Choice 3-4 1500-1585 lbs
108.25-110.75, 1616-1619 lbs 107.75-107.85.  Select and Choice 2-3 pkg 1300 lbs
108.85.  Returning to the Country:  Select and Choice 2-3 1289-1406 lbs 109.00-115.25.
Select 2 1221-1266 lbs 115.00-121.25.   

   Holstein Steers:  Choice 2-3 1335-1456 lbs 84.00-86.25, 1470-1499 lbs 81.75-82.50.
Select and Choice 2-3 1225-1321 lbs 80.00-83.75.

   Heifers:  Choice 2-4 1277-1446 lbs 108.75-109.85.  Returning to the Country:  Select
and Choice 2-3 109.50-118.50.  Select 2 pkg 1125 lbs 109.50.
