CO_LS756 Columbia, SC Wed Oct 11, 2017 USDA-SC Dept of Ag Market News Orangeburg Stockyards, Orangeburg, SC Weighted Average Report for Wednesday Oct 11, 2017 Cattle Receipts: 270 Last Week: 380 Last year: 488 Based on limited comparable sales, compared to last week, prices of all classes of feeder calves were 3.00-5.00 higher. Slaughter cow prices were steady and slaughter bull prices tended to be 3.00 higher based on limited comparable sales. There was a light offering of high quality calves with active buyer participation. There is a low demand for fleshy, full and/or extremely thin fleshed calves. *** This report reflects prices of the majority of cattle with a USDA grade, weight and sex on this sale date. This report does not represent all animals at the sale on this date. *** Slaughter cows made up 22 percent of the offering, slaughter bulls 3 percent, replacement cows 3 percent, other cows 2 percent, and feeders 69 percent. The feeder supply included 34 percent steers, 40 percent heifers, and 27 percent bulls. Near 26 percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
