Combined Livestock Receipts from Carlisle, Dewart, Greencastle, New Holland, Middleburg, and Vintage. Slaughter steers were quoted steady to 1.00 higher. Choice steers averaged 106.25/cwt or .30/cwt lower than last week. Holstein steers were quoted mixed from 1.00 lower to 3.00 higher. Choice Holstein steers averaged 84.65/cwt or .70/cwt higher than last week. Slaughter heifers were quoted steady to 4.00 lower. Choice heifers averaged 102.81/cwt or 1.19/cwt lower than last week. Choice Boxed Beef ended the week on the positive side. Boxed beef was at 197.22/cwt or .60/cwt higher than last Friday. The futures market got back part of last weeks loss. October futures were at 111.02/cwt or 1.92/cwt higher than last week. December futures were at 115.92 or 1.47/cwt higher. February futures ended the week at 120.72/cwt or 2.10/cwt higher. Slaughter cows were quoted mixed from 5.00 lower to 3.00 higher. Slaughter bulls sold 1.00-2.00 higher on a very light test. Holstein bull calves were quoted mixed from 30.00 lower to 10.00 higher for the week. Holstein heifer calves sold mixed from 35.00 lower to 70.00 higher. There were two a Feeder Cattle sales this week. At Middleburg, compared to last month's sale Feeder steers sold 10.00-20.00 higher. Feeder Heifers and Bulls sold mostly steady. At New Holland, there was no recent sale to trend Friday's special against. Quality of offerings was good. Demand was moderate to good. Supply was light to moderate. At the New Holland Dairy sale this week, Fresh Holstein cows sold steady to 100.00 higher on another very light test. Demand moderate. Not enough Bred Holsteins for a market test. Not enough Holstein bulls for a market test. Bred Holstein heifers sold mostly steady to 100.00 higher on another light test. Open Holstein heifers sold steady to firm on a very light test. Compared to last week's sale, Slaughter barrows and gilts sold 2.00-3.00 higher. Demand moderate. Sows sold 2.00-3.00 higher. Demand moderate. Boars sold steady on a very light test. When compared to the most recent sale two weeks ago, Feeder pigs sold 8.00-10.00 lower with the exception of 20-30 lbs which sold sharply lower. Demand moderate. Compared to a last week, Slaughter Lambs sold mostly steady to 10.00 lower. Slaughter Ewes sold mostly 5.00-10.00 lower. Bucks steady to weak on a light test. Demand was moderate. Slaughter Kids sold mostly steady to 5.00 higher. Slaughter Nannies and Bucks sold mostly steady. Slaughter Wethers sold weak on a light test. Demand was moderate. All cattle are sold per cwt, with the exception of dairy replacement cattle which are sold by the head. All hogs and pigs are sold per cwt.
