Slaughter steers sold mixed from 1.00 lower to 4.00 higher. Choice steers averaged 106.55/cwt or 1.95/cwt higher than last week. Holstein steers were quoted steady to 3.00 lower. Choice Holstein steers averaged 83.95/cwt or 1.24/cwt lower than last week. Slaughter heifers were quoted mixed from 1.00 lower to 5.00 higher. Choice heifers averaged 104.00/cwt or .40/cwt higher than last week. Choice Boxed Beef took a good jump this week. Boxed beef was at 196.62/cwt or 5.02/cwt higher than last Friday. After a good move last week the futures market gave back most of that gain this week. October futures were at 109.10/cwt or 2.47/cwt lower than last week. December futures were at 115.45 or 2.17/cwt lower. February futures ended the week at 118.62/cwt or 1.42/cwt lower. Slaughter cows were quoted mixed from 3.00 lower to 2.00 higher. Slaughter bulls sold 3.00-4.00 lower on a very light test. Holstein bull calves were quoted mixed from 10.00 lower to 50.00 higher for the week. Holstein heifer calves sold steady to 40.00 higher. There was not a Feeder Cattle sale this week. At the New Holland Dairy sale this week, Fresh Holstein cows sold 100.00-200.00 lower on a very light test. Demand light. Not enough Bred Holsteins for a market test. Holstein bulls sold weak on a very light test. Bred Holstein heifers sold mostly steady to 100.00 lower on a very light test. Open Holstein heifers sold steady to weak on a very light test. Compared to last week's sale, Slaughter barrows and gilts sold sharply lower, as much as 15.00-20.00 lower. Demand light. Light weight Sows sold 4.00-5.00 lower. Heavy sows sold 1.00-2.00 lower. Demand moderate. Boars sold steady on a light test. Compared to a heavy supply last week, Slaughter Lambs sold mostly steady to 10.00 higher. Slaughter Ewes sold mostly steady. Demand was moderate to good. Slaughter Kids sold mostly steady to 10.00 higher. Slaughter Nannies sold mostly steady. Slaughter Bucks sold mostly steady to 10.00 lower. Slaughter Wethers sold steady to firm on good demand and better quality supplies. Demand was good. All cattle are sold per cwt, with the exception of dairy replacement cattle which are sold by the head. All hogs and pigs are sold per cwt.
