JC_LS768 Jefferson City, MO Tue Oct 17, 2017 MO Dept of Ag/USDA Market News Kingdom City - Callaway Livestock Center Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 10/16/2017 Receipts: 1803 Week Ago: 1418 Year Ago: 987 Compared to last week, steer calves weighing 400-500 lbs sold with a higher undertone on a light test with last week, 500-650 lb steer calves sold 2.00-5.00 higher, 650-800 lbs were lightly tested with yearling steers over 850 lbs and yearling heifers over 650 lbs trading with a higher undertone with few comparisons from last week. Feeder heifers weighing 400-500 lbs sold steady, with 500-600 lbs selling steady to 4.00 lower. Demand was good with supply moderate. A nice offering of good quality steer calves weighing 400-650 lbs many long timed weaned sold with good demand as did the pot loads and part loads of yearling steers and heifers selling with very good demand. Feeder market continues to find support from higher fed cattle market and abundant corn crop being harvested. Slaughter cows accounted for near 10 percent of the total receipts. Feeder cattle supply consisted of 56 percent steers, 44 percent heifers and 54 percent weighing over 600 lbs.
