JC_LS768 Jefferson City, MO Tue Oct 03, 2017 MO Dept of Ag/USDA Market News Kingdom City - Callaway Livestock Center Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 10/02/2017 Receipts: 1824 Week Ago: 1718 Year Ago: 1374 Compared to last week, feeder steers weighing 450-700 lbs and heifers weighing 400-600 lbs sold 2.00-5.00 higher, with yearling steers over 700 lbs not well tested but trading with a higher undertone and 600-650 lb heifers on a light test selling steady. Demand was good with supply moderate. Monday's offering included several lots, part loads and pot loads of yearling steers selling with very good demand with good weighing conditions and top quality calves that were weaned sold with good demand as there was also a good offering of unweaned/short weaned calves in the mix that sold with moderate demand. Despite triple-digit losses on the CME demand remained very good as buyers were very active. Slaughter cows accounted for near 10 percent of the total receipts. Feeder supply consisted of 70 percent steers and bulls, 30 percent heifers and near 52 percent feeders weighing over 600 lbs.
