JC_LS764 Jefferson City, MO Tue Oct 10, 2017 MO Dept of Ag/USDA Market News Palmyra - F and T Livestock Auction Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 10/09/2017 Receipts: 1402 2 Weeks Ago: 1063 Year Ago: 580 Compared to the last tested auction from two weeks ago, feeder steers traded steady and feeder heifers steady to 5.00 higher. Slaughter cows steady to 2.00 higher. A nice run of cattle for early October when most Northeast Missouri farmers are usually occupied with the grain harvest. The offering consisted of featherweight calves to heavyweight yearlings with an active market throughout the day. Some cattle carrying extra flesh, and those usually received a little discount from the buyers. Demand was good and the supply moderate. Cows and bulls accounted for 9 percent of the run and feeders 91 percent. In the feeder supply, steers and bulls made up approximately 48 percent of the run; heifers 52 percent; steers and heifers over 600 lbs totaled around 59 percent.
