Sheep and Goat Auction for 10/12/2017

   Slaughter lambs weighing 50-85 lbs sold with a sharply higher undertone than 
last month.  Feeder lambs had the best test selling mostly 5.00 higher spots 
10.00 higher than last month.  Kid goats were very lightly tested on a very 
light test.  Supply light to moderate on a nice offering of slaughter and feeder 
lambs.  Several consignments of young replacement nannies and ewes all sold 
with good demand.  The supply was near 80 percent sheep and near 20 percent 
goats.  Montgomery County Livestock Auction holds the Sheep and Goat Auction the 
second Thursday of each month.  All prices per cwt unless noted otherwise.

SHEEP:  245 head (prices per hundred weight)

  Slaughter Lambs: Choice and Prime 2-3  52-65 lbs mostly hair x 200.00-220.00; 
68-82 lbs 170.00-185.00; few 92-95 lbs 140.00, pkg 170 lbs 121.00.       

  Slaughter Ewes: Good and Choice 1-3  90-140 lbs few 66.00-74.00.  Utility and 
Good 1-2 few 75-125 lbs 61.00-63.00.         

  Replacement Ewes: young to solid mouth ewes 98-110 lbs with families 200.00-
250.00 per head; few 3 years to solid mouth ewes 90-140 lbs bred 130.00-135.00 
per head; 2-4 years 80-110 lbs bred 101.00-135.00 cwt.   

  Feeder Lambs: Medium and Large 1-2  30-68 lbs 205.00-230.00 cwt; lot fancy 55 
lbs 236.00, pkg fancy 33 lbs 245.00.                

  Slaughter Bucks: few 130-305 lbs 51.00-63.00; young rams 120-235 lbs 80.00-
89.00.
