BL_LS350 Billings, MT Mon Nov 13, 2017 USDA Market News Public Auction Yards Sheep & Goat Report Weighted Average Report for 11/13/2017 Receipts: 3,132 Last sale(Oct 30): 4,336 Year Ago: NA Compared to last week (Oct 30th): Feeder lambs weighing less than 70 lbs were too lightly tested to develop an accurate market trend, however steady to firm undertones were noticed; feeder lambs 70-109 lbs sold mostly 4.00-6.00 higher, lambs weighing over 110 lbs were too lightly tested to trend, however higher undertones were noticed. Demand for lambs was mostly good throughout the sale. Offerings were light to moderate. Feeder lamb quality was average to attractive. Market activity this sale was mostly moderate to active. Slaughter ewes were too lightly tested to trend this week, however higher undertones were noticed for all ewes on offer. Ethnic demand continues to heavily influence the ewe market. Slaughter kids sold mostly 10.00-15.00 lower this sale. Buyers purchased feeding kids on mostly very good demand while market ready kids sold with light to moderate demand. Sheep receipts were 9 percent slaughter ewes and bucks, 7 percent slaughter lambs, 82 percent feeder lambs, balance ewes returning to the country and breeding stock. Goat receipts were 55 percent slaughter kids, 15 percent slaughter nannies, 19 percent feeding kids, balance billies, weathers and replacement goats. Sheep comprised 78 percent of all receipts while goat comprised 22 percent. All sheep and goats sold on a per cwt basis unless otherwise noted. Next sale is November 13th 2017.
