Prices have generally been trending up all season and show no signs of slowing down. Sources suggest there is quite a bit of uncertainty in the existing marketplace. Market participants continue to evaluate the overall impact of recent weather factors, as seasonal milk production edges to a close. Consequently, there is limited confidence as to whether or not factors affecting milk production weigh on the butter market. New Zealand's butter production effort focuses heavily on the global export market opportunities. This year, January-March, Australia butter exports show a 41.3% decline from the same period one year earlier, according to Eucolait.
