Export activity varies between Australia and New Zealand. Ecolait reports that 2016 New Zealand butter exports through February compared with January-February 2015 increased 12%. New Zealand exported about 20 times the volumes of butter as Australia. In Australia, butter exports declined 36.6%. During the first two months of 2016, the main destinations for New Zealand butter exports and percentage of total butter exports for the period were: Iran 18.5%; China 14.3%; and Egypt 10.7%.
