May 11, 2016 (REPORT 19) FOREIGN TYPE CHEESE Availability of semi-hard cheese in the EU has declined as a result of recently reduced production in leading EU cheese production countries such as Germany. Stocks in aging programs have declined. NASS reports that March 2016 Swiss production in the U.S., 26.1 million pounds, is 2.0% below March last year, but 6.8% above February 2016. In the U.S., wholesale domestic blue, gorgonzola, parmesan and Romano cheese prices decreased $0.0525 following lower weekly average CME Group block prices, Swiss cuts Switzerland increased $.0100, while the remaining prices are unchanged.
