MD_DA410 DA MD DA410 BUTTER - NORTHEAST MADISON, WI. March 23, 2015 (Report 12) NORTHEAST BUTTER: Northeast butter production is seasonally active and encouraged by heavy cream supplies. Some major manufacturers have limited their cream purchases due to sufficient in-house supplies. Butter interest varies, with active buying occurring sporadically as some buyers are looking to lock in existing butter prices to cover future butter demand. Currently, domestic butter orders are mixed with sales showing show some pre-holiday weakness. Isolated retail feature activity is supporting the clearing of fair to good volumes of butter in some areas. Bulk butter prices range 6 to 8 cents over the CME Group price, with various time frames and averages used. According to the DMN National Retail Report-Dairy, during the week of March 18 to 24, 2016, the U.S. weighted average advertised price for 1-pound butter was $3.07, down 36 cents from the previous week. The weighted average butter price in the Northeast was $3.23, down 86 cents from a week ago. The Grade AA butter price, at the CME Group, closed Tuesday $1.9575, up $0.0325 from a week ago.
