MD_DA431 DA MD DA431 BUTTER - CENTRAL MADISON, WI. June 17, 2015 (Report 24) CENTRAL BUTTER Butter production is active, with some manufacturers making and storing for future contract obligations. Some contacts believe that the consumer demand for a more natural product is what is keeping retail demand steady. Inventories are mixed, but most manufacturers report being comfortable at current levels. Cream supplies are tighter as the ice cream processors are buying heavy supplies. Bulk butter prices are at market to 5 cents over the market, based on the CME Group and various indices. According to the DMN National Retail Report- Dairy, for June 12-18, the national weighted average advertised price for a 1 pound package of butter price is $3.31, a 26 cent increase from last week and 7 cents higher than a year ago. The average weighted price in the Midwest is $3.76.
