However, a few processors have suggested they have some processing capacity available and could use a little more milk. Consumer demand for branded products is strong. Most of the cheese sales are on regular contracts and spot sales have been somewhat limited. The DMN National Retail Report - Dairy for the week of June 5 - 11 shows the U.S. weighted average advertised retail price for an 8 ounce pack of natural shredded cheese is $2.41, up $.07 from last week and up $.04 from a year ago. Packs averaged $2.29 in the Southwest and $2.86 in the Northwest. For 8 ounce blocks, the U.S. price is $2.38, up $.15 from last week but down $.06 from a year ago. Blocks in the Southwest averaged $2.42, and in the Northwest, $2.86. Western wholesale prices are up $.0525 for process, up $.0100 for Swiss cuts, and up $.0650 for all other types. In CME Group trading Wednesday, Barrels closed at $1.7100, up $.0100 from last Wednesday and Blocks closed at $1.7500, up $.0100.
