MD_DA810 DA MD DA810 Cheese - Northeast MADISON, WI. October 14, 2015 (REPORT 41) NORTHEAST WHOLESALE CHEESE: Fall is in the air in the Northeast, with embracing cooler temperatures. This leaves milk moving to cheese vats in seasonally lower volumes similar to last week, with cheese utilizing primarily regular milk. The result is cheese production steady at expected volumes for this time of year. Current production is moving mostly toward sales rather than manufacturer inventories. Cheddar interest is good, with mozzarella production also moving well. According to the DMN National Retail Report- Dairy, during the week of October 9-15, the weighted average advertised price for 8 ounce cheese blocks in the Northeast was $2.25, 29 cents less than a week ago and 12 cents less than the national average. The Southeast 8 ounce block cheese price was $2.49, 10 cents less than a week ago. This week, cheese prices for both Northeast wholesale cheddar and Muenster rose $0.0575, and processed increased $0.0750. The Grade A Swiss price is unchanged. Tuesday's CME Group daily cash trading saw barrels close at $1.6525, up $0.0325 from a week ago; blocks closed at $1.6925, down $0.0475 from a week ago.
