However, warmer temperatures are helping to reduce those milk volumes. Fat and protein contents are seasonally low, decreasing cheese yields. Demand for cheese is fair at the retail level. Export interest is sluggish, due to higher domestic prices. Northeast wholesale cheese prices for cheddar and muenster rose $0.0125 and process 5# climbed to $0.0075. The Grade A Swiss price is unchanged. According to the DMN National Retail Report-Dairy, for the week of June 12-18, the weighted average advertised price for 8 oz. cheese blocks in the Northeast is $2.22, 3 cents less than the national average and 19 cent less than a week ago. The Southeast 8 oz. block cheese price is $2.37, 1 cent less than a week ago. At the CME Group, Tuesday's daily cash trading saw barrels close at $1.6950, up $0.0225 from a week ago; blocks closed at $1.7200, down $0.0050 from a week ago.
