A few regional cheese plants are taking advantage of discounted condensed skim offerings. Domestic demand is fair. Orders are declining, which is typical, in advance of the current school term winding up at educational institutions. Tuesday's CME Group daily cash prices saw blocks close at $1.6100, up $0.0025 from a week ago; barrels closed at $1.6175, down $0.0075 from a week ago. This week, wholesale cheese prices for cheddar and muenster rose $0.0275, and prices for process 5# sliced are up $0.0075. Grade A Swiss prices are unchanged. According to the DMN National Retail Report- Dairy, for April 24-30, the Northeast weighted average advertised price for 8 oz. cheese blocks was $2.33, 5 cents less than the national average and 10 cents less than a week ago. The Southeast 8 oz. block cheese price was $2.50, 40 cents more than the previous week.
