MD_DA771 DA MD DA771 Whey Protein Concentrate - Central and West MADISON, WI. December 01, 2016 (REPORT 48) WHEY PROTEIN CONCENTRATE 34% - CENTRAL AND WEST Prices for whey protein concentrate 34% moved higher at the bottom of the range and top of the mostly prices series. Because WPC34% production has been displaced by higher protein concentrations, the current production is no longer able to keep pace with the steady demand. Some manufacturers say they continue to get a lot of inquiries for all grades of WPC34%, but do not have any WPC34% available. Processors report Q1 contracting is nearing completion with the understanding that some buyers may get left behind without coverage. Industry contacts report resales are quickly made when a load becomes available, often at prices well above the published price range. A few manufacturers suggest alternative protein sources that are interchangeable with WPC34% for certain applications may be loosening up. This may continue to anchor low end prices in place for WPC34% that does not meet higher specifications or low spore counts. F.O.B.
