MD_DA770 DA MD DA770 Lactose - Central and West MADISON, WI. December 01, 2016 (REPORT 48) LACTOSE - CENTRAL AND WEST Lactose prices held steady this week. Inventories continue to be tight for higher mesh lactose. There is a little better availability for lower mesh lactose. Lactose production is consistent with active cheese production. Buyers and sellers are busy working on Q1 contracts. Some manufacturers report contracting is ahead of schedule. Processors say prices are trending higher on the new quarterly contracts. End users are generally accepting the terms, but a few buyers are seeking to front load the contracts, asking for deliveries early in the quarter to assure coverage of their lactose needs. Including spot sales and up to 3 month contracts. F.O.B.
