LACTOSE - CENTRAL AND WEST                                                      

Lactose prices held steady on light spot sales activity. Manufacturers are still 
circulating a few offers, but most Q4 contracts are in place. Some buyers are 
looking for longer term agreements or larger volumes of lactose. The requests 
place more pressure on production facilities, which are already near full 
capacity. Although there is a little more availability of low mesh lactose, 
inventories are generally tight or committed. Demand is steady.
