LACTOSE - CENTRAL AND WEST                                                      

Lactose prices moved slightly higher on the top of the range and 
significantly higher at the bottom of the mostly price series. Domestic 
demand is decent. Manufacturers note a good amount of inquiries from buyers. 
Increased demand for permeate, whey and lactose for feed applications in 
Southeast Asia has helped remove the anchor from lactose prices according to 
a few industry contacts. Inventories of high mesh lactose remain tight 
outside of contracts. Lower mesh lactose is more readily available. Lactose 
production is steady.

Including spot sales and up to 3 month contracts.
