The market tone, according to many participants, is showing some signs of steadiness. Some producers report buyer interest for domestic and international lactose sales is comparatively more active than just a few weeks ago. Some end users and producers have finalized Q3 or Q3/Q4 contracts. In previous weeks, some manufacturers rejected longer term contracts because price bids were deemed too low. Now, price bids have improved somewhat, making those longer term contracts more acceptable. Lactose production is ongoing, with milk supplies in the Central and West regions clearing actively into cheese making. Lactose inventories are variable. Including spot sales and up to 3 month contracts. F.O.B.
