LACTOSE - CENTRAL AND WEST                                                      

Lactose prices shifted mostly lower on weaker spot trading and index 
pricing. Many suppliers are actively clearing volumes at a discount to 
work inventories lower. The market tone is weak. Production rates are 
steady to lower with some manufacturers scaling back production due to 
current price points. Buyers domestically and internationally are actively 
shopping for bargains, otherwise have light interest unless having a need 
to restock supplies.
