MD_DA751 DA MD DA751 Casein - National MADISON, WI. March 03, 2016 (REPORT 9) CASEIN - NATIONAL Casein pricing weakened at the bottom of the price ranges. This reflects a global trend that has been developing for several weeks, especially in EU markets. Although GDT contracts showed increases for event 159 on March 1, EU lower range pricing is already below GDT levels. Manufacturers of rennet casein in the EU are not believed to be sold out, even factoring in contract commitments. There is limited spot market demand for the inventories not needed for contracts. Acid casein is similar. Some EU manufacturers with flexible production are reducing casein production in preference for other products. Increasing commentary is heard that Ireland milk production is expected to move higher than year ago levels as the flush develops. Ireland has significant casein producing capacity as one way to handle milk intakes, so this unknown also weighs over markets. SPOT SALES AND UP TO 3 MONTH CONTRACTS. PRICES ARE F.O.B., U.S. WAREHOUSE FOR EDIBLE NONRESTRICTED AND VARY ACCORDING TO MESH SIZE AND QUALITY.
