DRY WHEY - NORTHEAST                                                 

A very limited number of f.o.b. spot sales elevated the East dry 
whey price at the bottom of the range, as market firmness persist.
Market participants note a growing number of resell transactions, 
typically at premiums, as producers undergo seasonal challenges in 
supplying regional cash markets. Production is steady, as Class I 
needs continue to draw from milk supplies. Inventories are tight. 
The August 2016 Dairy Market News monthly average for Northeast 
dry whey was $0.2921 compared to $0.3123 one year ago. 
DAIRY PRODUCTS: According to NASS, July 2016 U.S. human food dry 
whey production totaled 81.7 million pounds, 1.2% more than a year 
ago and 4.1% above the previous month. The Atlantic region's 
production of human food dry whey totaled 21.7 million pounds, 
1.8% less than a year ago and 3.6% lower than last month.
