Production is steady, at levels equivalent to fairly active cheese output, prompted by the spring flush. Current production is adding to inventories and pressuring prices. Spot sales remain limited, as buyers are comfortable waiting for the right offer. The market undertone remains weak. The April 2015 Dairy Market News monthly average for the Northeast dry whey was $0.4666 compared to $0.6936 one year ago. DAIRY PRODUCTS: According to NASS, U.S. production of human food dry whey in March 2015 totaled 81.4 million pounds, 17.0% more than a year ago. Month ending stocks of human food dry whey totaled 66.6 million pounds, 12.2% more than a year ago. In the Atlantic region, March U.S. production of human food dry whey totaled 21.7 million pounds, 23.3% more than a year ago. F.O.B.
