MD_DA540 DA MD DA540 Dry Whey - West MADISON, WI. June 22, 2017 (REPORT 25) DRY WHEY - WEST Although Western whey prices are unchanged, industry contacts describe the market tone for whey as weakening. Domestic demand is marginal and export demand weaker still. A few contacts suggest prices for offered loads need to be at the bottom end of the range or mostly prices series, or even lower, to move much volume. Buyers seem to have limited interest outside of regular contract purchases. Market participants say whey is currently harder to move, especially into international markets. Production is heavy and adding to already large inventories.
