MD_DA540 DA MD DA540 Dry Whey - West MADISON, WI. February 02, 2017 (REPORT 5) DRY WHEY - WEST Western dry whey prices moved higher this week. Although some industry contacts report dry whey demand has cooled a bit compared to several weeks ago, manufacturers are still seeing good domestic and international demand. A few contacts speculate the Chinese New Year or uncertainty about trade policies may have created a slight lull in international whey inquiries. Market participants are eager to see what direction the market will take in the next few weeks. Dry whey inventories are balanced to tight. Production is steady, but increased manufacturing of higher whey protein concentrations places a cap on dry whey production.
