DRY WHEY - WEST                                                  

Western whey prices are steady to higher, increasing on the top of the 
range and bottom of the mostly price series. Manufacturers report 
inventories are committed and tight through the end of the year. However, 
a few end users say whey supplies are adequate for most processing needs. 
Dry whey production is steady, but some industry contacts suggest 
manufacturers are making more whey protein concentrations in lieu of dry 
whey. Export demand has been good and contracting for 2017 is progressing 
well. A few buyers are hesitant to make commitments on the proposed, 
higher-priced offers floated out for Q1.
