DRY WHEY - WEST                                                  

Western whey prices held mostly steady, but stepped back a little on the 
top end of the price range. Industry contacts describe the market as flat, 
with lackluster demand. There is little movement in prices, and little 
difference between the cash and futures markets. Some manufacturers and 
end users say suppliers may need to offer lower prices in order to secure 
deals. Production is steady and active. Inventories are mixed. A few 
processors say their inventories are steady, while others say stocks are 
building somewhat.
