MD_DA540 DA MD DA540 Dry Whey - West MADISON, WI. December 10, 2015 (REPORT 49) DRY WHEY - WEST Western dry whey prices held steady this week on limited spot market activity. Manufacturers report they are focusing their activities on Q1 contracting. Whey production is steady. A number of industry contacts say their whey inventories are more comfortable than earlier in the year. The DMN monthly average of the mostly price series for West dry whey during November was $0.2308 compared to $0.2127 one month ago and $0.5869 a year ago. NASS reports that October 2015 U.S. human whey production, 74.1 million pounds, is up 10.2% from a year ago, but down 4.0% from September. The Western region produced 17.5 million pounds of edible dry whey during October, up 9.5% from last year, but down 16.3% from September this year. Month ending stocks for U.S. human whey, at 58.4 million pounds are 4.2% higher than one year ago. U.S. Dry Whey Exports. H.S.
