Some market participants are holding product in anticipation of higher prices. A handful of manufacturers are reporting committed stocks. Dry whey production is steady to lower. The DMN monthly average of the mostly price series for West dry whey during October** was $0.2127 compared to $0.2185 one month ago and $0.5991 a year ago. NASS reports that September 2015 U.S. human whey production, 76.9 million pounds, is up 12.4% from a year ago but down 7.3% from August. The Western region produced 20.9 million pounds of U.S. edible dry whey during September. Western edible dry whey production this September is up 31.4% from last year but down 3.0% from August this year.
