August 06, 2015 (REPORT 31) DRY WHEY - WEST An increase in spot market activity and willingness of manufacturers to sell at lower prices helped push West whey prices lower. There is significant price competition between regions and in international markets. Inventories are long. Manufacturers want to clear some stocks prior to the end of the fiscal year. Meanwhile, buyers are willing to wait on lower prices. The market tone for whey continues to be weak. The DMN monthly average of the mostly price series for West Dry Whey during July was $0.3936 compared to $0.4164 one month ago and $0.6655 a year ago. NASS reports that June 2015 U.S. human whey production, 79.4 million pounds, is up 1.4% from a year ago and up 0.3% from May. The Western region produced 17.4 million pounds of U.S. edible dry whey during June, down 16.3% from last year but up 6.6% from May this year. Month ending stocks for U.S. human whey, at 70.8 million pounds is 15.2% higher than one year ago. U.S. Dry Whey Exports. H.S.
