June 01, 2017 (REPORT 22) DRY WHEY - CENTRAL Central dry whey prices increased slightly on the bottom of the range, but decreased on both ends of the mostly price series. The Central dry whey spot market saw lots of offers, but completed transactions were limited. Some end users are stocked, and are confident that prices are fair and will remain in the current range for the near term. Whey producers are expressing concerns regarding inventories, which are building. Dry whey production is in line with ongoing cheese manufacturing, and Class III plants continue to take on available and discounted milk in the Midwest. Animal feed whey prices are steady. Animal feed whey inventory reports are mixed. Some feed suppliers, who stocked up on feed grade whey earlier in the year, are sufficiently stocked. F.O.B.
