MD_DA530 DA MD DA530 Dry Whey - Central MADISON, WI. December 01, 2016 (REPORT 48) DRY WHEY - CENTRAL Central whey prices moved higher at the bottom of the price range and on both ends of the mostly price series. Industry contacts say the strong U.S. dollar is keeping exports in check. Domestic demand is steady, but a few contacts report there is not a huge demand for whey and not a lot of whey is being offered. Dry whey is however, moving well through current agreements. Dry whey production is consistent with cheese production and whey inventories are comfortable to tight. A few manufacturers say they are trying to hold back on Q4 offers in order to make sure they have enough whey available for 2017 commitments. Market participants are actively working on Q1 contracts. Animal feed whey supplies are tight. Some industry contacts suggest favorable weather this summer provided good conditions for drying whey. As a result, less animal feed grade whey was produced. Animal feed whey prices held steady this week. F.O.B. CENTRAL: .3000 - .4400 MOSTLY: .3300 - .3950 F.O.B.
