The gap between foreign and domestic pricing levels is affecting export sales. Production levels continue to be strong as cheese production remains active. Condensed whey is selling at discounted pricing as some manufacturers are using available drying capacities for other products. Inventories are high. Some buyers are being told to name a price for purchasing dry whey. Others are being offered heavy discounts for large purchase quantities. Most buyers are purchasing hand-to-mouth, believing prices will drop. Suppliers report high inventories of down grade product. Animal feed whey prices are steady.
